Wellington State Park

What you need to know: 
The park, located on Route 3A, is open until 6 p.m., but the gates and the boat launch are always open. There’s a snack bar and an adjacent boat launch. Pets are not allowed. Admission prices range from $4 to $2. For more information, call 744-2197.
What you'll find: 
This 204-acre park on Newfound Lake has the largest freshwater swimming beach in the state park system. Hiking trails and picnic areas along the shore afford views of one of the deepest and clearest lakes in the state. The park also maintains volleyball and horseshoe courts.
